I heard that negative feelings pile up at the tips of our hair. So I got a haircut, went to take a bone density test, and had a coffee.

As I was leafing through a magazine for teenagers, I noticed that the items popular among today’s high school girls are almost the same as those from our generation. Students put too many key chains and plush toys on their school bags, which kind of reminds me of the ’90s. With uncustomizable school uniforms, that’s like their only universe.

I went to the Tomioka Silk Mill to see the annual knitting contest. I know nothing about knitting, but I’ve grown up surrounded by people with immense knowledge of it. My grandpa used to run a silk mill, my dad used to develop colorways for silk yarn and run a yarn shop for knitters, and my mom is a professional knitter. So imagine their circle of friends. And imagine what it’s like to be in that situation with absolutely zero knitting skills. I smile, I nod… you know the drill.

I made a critical mistake while talking to a lady who’s really into a boy idol. I said, “He might have a girlfriend, but he should definitely keep it private if he’s a professional.” Looking at her reaction, I immediately and deeply regretted it. I should have said, “No! Don’t worry. He doesn’t have a girlfriend! He never has, and he never will!” I should have been more careful with her feelings. Now I feel really bad. I hope he actually doesn’t and won’t have any girlfriends until he’s, like… forty? Or at least that he won’t make it public until around that age.
