Sunday, August 3
I dropped by the library to borrow some books. The parking lot was so crowded that some cars were waiting in a queue. I remembered why I usually avoid going to the library on Sunday mornings.
Monday, August 4
I noticed some stores offer free origami bookmarks. Probably this is for kids on summer break. Each time I asked if I could take one, they said things like “Don’t you get sick and tired of this summer break thing? I really hope they go back to school asap.”
Tuesday, August 5
The temperature was 41 degrees. Because we haven’t had rain these days, some trees got sunburned. After sunset, I pulled out the hose and watered them. While I was watering, I somehow felt we might get rain tomorrow. I sensed Murphy’s law had been activated.
Wednesday, August 6
Right after I stepped inside the cafe, heavy rain hit our area. I drank hot coffee while watching the downpour. It felt like being in a car wash.
Thursday, August 7
On my way to buy CD-Rs, I saw a Google car. I knew I wouldn’t be in the photo, but I enthusiastically waved. A driver in the oncoming lane looked puzzled and gave me a “Do I know you?” look.
Friday, August 8
For weeks, I’ve been going to bed around midnight, but today I forced myself to hit the hay before eleven.
Saturday, August 9
I grew up being told that I’d be a great mother, and I kind of believed it. However, by babysitting my nephew, I gradually realized it might have been a long-held misconception. There was a time when I felt a sense of failure for missing the final boarding call, but I think I’m now okay with how my life has turned out.
